We’re delighted to receive letters from former student loan recipients. Tom Doehrman recently wrote to us from Papua, New Guinea.
From left to right: Ambassador Dominic Diya, Prime Minister of Papua, New Guinea, Sir Michael Somar, and Tom Doerhman.
Tom graduated from USCB with a BA in Economics and later from UCLA with an MBA. He headed for Singapore where he has been involved in the timber trade. He took a year off to pursue a spiritual quest in the 1980s with the Jesuits in India working among the poorest of the poor.
The gratitude he feels toward the Santa Barbara Foundation impacts the work he does today: he’s currently immersed in an educational project to help the people of New Guinea. He took the time to send us his news and even enclosed a check.
It’s good to know that the spirit of philanthropy is thriving.
