We’re seeking an Account Specialist to join the Finance and Admin Team. This position reports directly to our Accounting Manager and is based in Santa Barbara County.

Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist keeps the Foundation’s financial records accurate and up to date through daily accounting operations, monthly reconciliations, and fund and expense reporting, while supporting colleagues across Finance and Donor Relations and working on other projects as assigned.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Process cash receipts, including fund coding and batching.
- Monitor bank accounts for activity daily and provide Donor Relations team with incoming wire specifications for gift entry.
- Enter A/P invoices in FE NXT.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Update fee schedules and allocation pools related to Capital Preservation funds in FE.
- Prepare monthly giving group reports and other fund reports ad hoc.
- Prepare monthly budget to actual operating expense reports.
- Reconcile Gifts/Grants between FE, RE and FC databases monthly.
- Maintain prepaid expenses and fixed asset reconciliation schedules.
- Serve as a backup for Staff Accountant A/P processing and grant disbursement functions.
- Serve as backup to Donor Relations team for gift recording.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly fund holder statements.
- Assist in recordkeeping and reporting for external grants.
- Support finance and audit committee meetings by uploading documents to BoardEffect, coordinating with attendees, providing snacks and beverages, and taking minutes.
- Keep MS Outlook calendar populated as per SBF standard.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance preferred.
- Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (RE), Financial Edge (FE) and NPact Foundation Cloud (FC) experience is a plus.
Work Environment:
- General office environment, maybe in open office area or shared office space.

- Hybrid: In office (minimum 3 days/week), plus optional telecommuting/ability to work from home. Must provide own router, modem, and reliable internet connection.
- Significant telephone, video and computer work (repetitive movement – typing).
- Some driving travel within the county and occasional travel outside of the county (via car or plane).
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending and occasional lifting/pushing of light to heavy loads (10lbs. to more than 50 lbs.)
This exempt, full-time role is compensated at $61,000 – $66,000 annually, depending on skills and work experience.
