Description: There is a lot we can do to improve the remote meeting and workshop experience and empower people to be actively engaged. I will give practical advice on how to do so – along with examples of it in action – using a combination of free, existing technology and social set-up (Zoom, Google Docs, and Codes of Conduct).
Bio: Julia Stewart Lowndes PhD is a marine ecologist, data scientist, and Senior Fellow at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) at the University of California Santa Barbara. As founding director of Openscapes (created as a Mozilla Fellow) and science program lead of the Ocean Health Index, she has developed and led remote and online programs since 2014. She is also an active member in the Santa Barbara community, including as co-founder of two coding clubs: Eco-Data-Science and R-Ladies Santa Barbara.
